Central Sleep Apnea vs. Complex Apnea: How Do They Differ? (Respironics)
This program was developed to educate respiratory therapists and sleep technologists about the difference between complex sleep apnea and central sleep apnea. Examples of idiopathic central apnea, complex sleep apnea, and Cheyne-Stokes respiration will be discussed, along with their respective PSG findings. Treatment suggestions and use of various PAP modalities for these forms of sleep apnea will be reviewed.

The Link BetweenSleep Apnea and Co-Morbid Conditions: CVD and Type II Diabetes (Respironics)
This workshop reviews the impact of sleep disordered breathing on common co-morbidities: cardiovascular disease and type II diabetes. Participants will discuss the association between OSA and these co-morbidities, current trends and relevant clinical data. Additionally, ways to improve medical management of patients with type II diabetes or CVD who also suffer from OSA will be discussed.

The ABCs of OSA: An Overview of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (Respironics)
This workshop provided a broad overview of OSA, including its prevalence, pathology, health consequences, economic impact, diagnosis, treatment and long-term management. This presentation also discusses the link between OSA and associated co-morbidities, such as: CHF, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and type II diabetes. Issues with pain management, anesthesia and bariatric surgery will also be discussed.

Portable Home Oxygen Equipment: Matching the Patient to the Proper Device (Respironics)
This workshop is aimed at increasing the knowledge of practitioners who work with home oxygen patients that require portable oxygen equipment. The session will cover methods of matching portable oxygen equipment to patient needs with emphasis on the various types of equipment currently available. Finally, issues faced by patients when traveling will also be addressed.
